One of the goals I have with this site is to be thoughtful. And that means having a slower cadence; producing higher-quality content at slower intervals, instead of lower quality content at higher intervals.
But the media circus goes on whether I engage with it or not.
So I’m introducing a weekly short-form podcast to add some analytics context to the topics de jour: Batting Practice.
Episode one is right here:
I talk about:
Justin Herbert: His best comp is Matthew Stafford and we need to cool our jets with Herbert optimism. Herbert is Tier 3, likely destined for Tier 2.
Trey Lance / Brock Purdy: Purdy was a Tier 1 QB by our rankings, and went undefeated last year until he was injured in the Conference Championship; anyone who is surprised that Lance is getting benched must have missed his feeble performance in the last two seasons.
Aaron Rodgers / Jets: Rodgers is a Tier 1 QB and the Jets are in a weak division. The Bills are only expected to get 10.5 wins, and our models have the Dolphins under .500. Pessimism from the media here is just Jets bashing.
Ohtani’s UCL Tear: This one hurts to talk about—you hate to talk bad about an injured player—but Ohtani was just statistically weird. He is decline was always going to be swift. We’ll see how he does in free agency.
